Creating a Persona: defining your target audience

This activity allowed the students to imagine a person who is struggling with homelessness. They choose a person whom they find a connection with and can be helped through their work in this project.

Students created a representation of the persona using Artificial Intelligence. Inserted it into their pages document and analysed their situation, responding to the task prompts.

Using artificial intelligence to generate a persona was an engaging activity that opened up many visually relevant possibilities. This enabled students to imagine the sort of obstacles and frustrations that they might face in life and how they need to be considered in the design process.

We used MacBooks, Pages and Image Playgrounds to complete this activity.

NOTE: This task is part of the Tiny House Project unit of work for the year 7 students (12-13 year olds) in Western Australia.

This type of approach is also explored by Miriam Walsh in “Using Apple Intelligence to build relatable class personas/ heroes”.
