Personalised Reading on the Road — Bringing Learning to Life with Apple Pages

While travelling around Australia with my family, I wanted to find a meaningful way to keep learning alive for my son. Using AI, I created a 96-day reading resource made up of short, daily passages about the places we visited — from Kalgoorlie and Coober Pedy to Uluru and the Daintree. Each text was tailored to his interests and reading level, helping us spark rich conversations about what we saw along the way.

I designed the book in Apple Pages, which made it simple to combine text, images, and sections into a beautiful travel-themed reader. He loved reading it on his iPad — a purposeful use of technology in the car instead of just playing games or watching videos.

One of my favourite moments came the day before we arrived at Uluru. He read the passage describing the rock’s changing colours and the Dreaming stories connected to it. The next day, as we stood there together, he was able to explain what he’d read, noticing the subtle shifts in light and colour. It was a powerful reminder of how personalised, creative learning can deepen understanding and turn travel into something truly meaningful.
